The University of Port Harcourt is located in Choba in Port Harcourt, Rivers state, it is located in Niger-Delta region of Nigeria. It was established in 1975 as University College, Port Harcourt and was given university status in 1977
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant positions below in the institution
A.) Teaching Vacancies
1.) Lecturer I:
Requirements:
- Candidates must possess a PhD or its equivalent. Persons without this qualification, however, may be appointed to this post if they have adequate teaching and/or professional experience, and evidence or promise in research.
- In addition, an eligible candidate for this position must have served for 3 years as Lecturer II in a University or in an institution of similar status or had relevant professional experience elsewhere.
2.) Lecturer II
Requirements:
- Candidates must possess a PhD or its equivalent.
- Persons without this qualification, however, may be appointed to this post if they have adequate teaching and/or professional experience, and evidence or promise in research.
3.) Assistant Lecturer
Requirements:
- Candidates must possess a Master’s Degree.
- Although, candidates with a First-class Bachelor’s degree who have relevant experience may also be considered.
4.) Graduate Assistant
Requirements:
- Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree (minimum of Second-Class Honours Upper Division or its equivalent).
B.) Non-Teaching Vacancies
1.) Senior Assistant Technologist
Requirements
- Candidates should possess HND (minimum of Upper Credit) / B.Tech Degrees (minimum of 2.2) in a relevant field with relevant work experience.
- Plus NYSC Discharge / Exemption / Exclusion Certificate.
2.) Scientific Officer
Requirements
- Candidates should possess HND (minimum of Upper Credit) / Honours Degrees (minimum of 2.2) in the Medical or Natural Sciences from a recognized Higher Institution
- Plus NYSC Discharge / Exemption / Exclusion Certificate.
3.) Systems Analyst II / Programmer II
Requirements:
- Candidates should possess HND (minimum of Upper Credit) / Honours Degrees (minimum of 2.2) in Computer Science or Information Science/Technology from a recognized Higher Institution
- Plus NYSC Discharge / Exemption / Exclusion Certificate.
4.) Higher Technical Officer I
Requirements:
- Honours Degree (Minimum of 2.2) / HND (with at least Upper Credit) / Higher National Certificate (HNC) / Full Technological Certificate (TNC) in any Engineering / Science related field, from a recognized Higher Institution plus NYSC Discharge / Exemption / Exclusion Certificate.
- Qualifications listed for Technical Officer with at least 3 years cognate experience from a public/well established private sector as a Technical Officer.
5.) Data Processing Officer II
Requirements:
- Candidates must possess an Honours Degree (minimum of 2.2) / HND (with at least Upper Credit) in Computer Science / Data Processing from a recognized Higher Institution, plus NYSC Discharge/Exemption/Exclusion Certificate.
6.) Senior Porter
Requirements:
- Candidates must possess FSLC and 3 credits in WASC/SSCE/GCE/NABTEB including English Language in a sitting.
- Ex service man with discharge certificate will be an added advantage.
7.) Driver / Mechanic
Requirements:
- Candidates must possess FSLC and Trade Test Grade II, III and a valid professional Driving License, with at least, 2 years driving experience.
- Possession of WASC/SSCE/GCE/NABTEB will be an added advantage.
