JACKRICH, GROUP SEEK ENFORCEMENT OF FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS IN COURT

A Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt will on the 14th of December, 2021 continue hearing on fundamental suit by the leader of Network for the Defense of Democracy and Good Governance, SOBOMABO JACKRICH and members of his group against the Inspector General of Police, USMAN ALKALI-BABA, Attorney General of Rivers State and State Commissioner of Police.

Others as defendants in the matter are the Director of State Services, Director of Economic and Financial Crime Commission and Nigerian Army.

SOBOMABO JACKRICH and members of his group are asking the court for enforcement of their fundamental human rights following threat of arrest on them.

When the matter came up in court, the presiding Judge, Justice E. O. Obele, granted request by the plaintiff counsel for extension of time to respond to some applications by the defense counsel and directed representative of the first and third respondents to ensure their presence on the next adjourned date.

Counsel to JACKRICH and his group, EMMANUEL RUKARI explained that his clients approached the court to seek enforcement of their fundamental rights following threats of unlawful arrest and intimidation by officials of the Rivers State Government.
