PDP CRISIS: Wike, others demands the resignation of Nat’l Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, as condition for reconciliation.

Following the ongoing rift between the governor of Rivers State and the Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, has necessitated some reconciliatory moves by the Board of Trustees of the PDP and the National Working Committee of the party.

Vanguard NG reported that the BOT and National Working Committee of the PDP have stepped in to put an end to the faceoff between Nyesom Wike and his supporters and Atiku Abubakar, the party’s presidential flagbearer.

According to the report, the top leadership body of the PDP and Nyesom Wike’s faction met recently where the latter gave the conditions that the party and Atiku must meet before Wike and his faction will reconcile with Atiku towards the 2023 presidential elections.

Accordingly, Vanguard further reports that three major conditions were given by Governor Wike’s camp.

First, Wike’s camp insist that before they will reconcile with Atiku Abubakar, the national chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, must be asked to resign from his position.

The resignation, Wike and his team believes will allow a Southerner take the position in line with the North and South power sharing formula, since the current National Chairman of the party hails from the North Central region.

Secondly, Wike and his team also requested that Abubakar Atiku must be made to agree to a single term. That is to say, in the event that he wins the presidency, Atiku must only serve for a single term, after which he will relinquish the presidency.

Thirdly, the Wike camp also requested that the headship of the Senate and House Of Representatives must be discussed to enable them have inputs on who gets what position in the National Assembly if the party if the party wins majority seats in the legislature.
