Sen. Ahmed Lawan Withdraws from Presidential Race, Fights For Senatorial Seat.

President of Nigeria’s Senate, Sen. Ahmed Lawan, according to reports available Indicates that he is running for another term as Senator representing Yobe East Senatorial District.

The Senate President who is said to have purchased, filled and submitted his form, is running along side Hon. Bashir Sheriff and Hon. Sidi Yakubu for the same Senatorial district.

Sen. Lawan initially declared to run for the Presidency of Nigeria. With this development the Senate President appears has bowed to pressures to support a candidate of Southern extraction in line with the position of the All Progressives Congress for a return of power to the South.

Frontline champion of the Lawan Presidency project, the Chief Whip of the Nigerian Senate and former Governor of Abia State, Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu, who according to reports would have deputised Lawan as Vice President was said to have been taken aback by the latest development. Efforts to reach Sen. Kalu proved abortive.
