Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc (FMN) Incorporated on the 29th of September 1960, as a limited liability company and pioneer wheat miller in Nigeria, started out on a journey that has seen the company evolve into what is now one of the biggest brands in the foods and agro-allied industry in Africa. Over the years, the FMN brand grew tremendously from operating as a single business, flour miller, to a vast business group with strategic investments that cover key sectors of the Nigerian economy.
We are hiring to fill in the following position:

Job Title: Accountant
Location: Lagos

Job Description

Oversee and manage the general ledger function, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and process improvements.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain the general ledger, including account reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
  • Supervise and review all entries flowing into the general ledger.
  • Develop and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with external auditors and internal stakeholders.
  • Prepare and review financial reports, including balance sheets and income statements.
  • Supervise month-end close activities, ensuring timely and accurate financial closing, enabling prompt reporting and decision-making.
  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of quarterly financial reports, providing adequate support for Group Consolidation
  • Perform Monthly balance sheet reconciliations with adequate and clean schedules.
  • Strengthen internal controls, reducing the risk of financial errors and fraud.

Requirements

  • Bsc/HND in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Five years of cognate experience in an FMCG industry.
  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Have excellent attention to details.
  • Have good analytical & problem- solving skills.
  • Be able to work independently and collaboratively with a team.
  • Accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.
  • General Ledger reconciliation completion within the stipulate time frame
  • Professional qualification or certification in ICAN and ACCA.
