Job Summary:
The Staff Nurse will provide comprehensive healthcare services to employees and their families within the plantation community.
The role involves delivering primary medical care, first aid, health education, and preventive healthcare programs, while ensuring compliance with medical and occupational health standards.
The nurse will also support workplace health and safety initiatives in collaboration with the HSE team.
Responsibilities:
- Provide primary healthcare services, including assessment, diagnosis (within scope), treatment, and referral where necessary.
- Administer first aid and emergency care for workplace accidents, injuries, and illnesses.
- Maintain and manage the plantation clinic, medical supplies, and equipment to ensure readiness at all times.
- Support occupational health initiatives, including pre-employment, routine, and periodic medical examinations.
- Keep accurate and confidential medical records of all patients.
- Promote preventive healthcare through awareness campaigns on hygiene, nutrition, malaria prevention, maternal and child health, etc.
- Collaborate with HSE personnel in promoting workplace health and safety.
- Monitor and report health trends, outbreaks, or common illnesses within the plantation community.
- Provide maternal and child health support, including antenatal and postnatal care, where applicable.
- Ensure compliance with relevant medical and nursing ethical standards.
Requirements:
- Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid practicing license from the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
- Additional certifications in First Aid, Emergency Response, or Occupational Health Nursing will be an advantage.
- Minimum of 2–4 years’ clinical nursing experience, preferably in occupational health, community health, or rural/plantation settings.
- Experience in handling medical emergencies and first aid.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Strong clinical and patient care skills.
- Good knowledge of tropical and occupational health issues.
- Excellent communication, counseling, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision in a rural setting.
- High level of empathy, integrity, and professionalism.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications for medical recordkeeping.
