Job Summary:

As the Librarian for our esteemed institution, you will play a crucial role in supporting the academic and research needs of our nursing students, faculty, and staff. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the education and professional development of future healthcare leaders.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the nursing school library, including the acquisition, organization, and maintenance of print and electronic resources relevant to nursing education and research.
  • Provide reference and research assistance to students, faculty, and staff, helping them navigate resources effectively and efficiently.
  • Collaborate with faculty to develop and deliver information literacy instruction tailored to the needs of nursing students, including workshops and tutorials on research skills, database usage, and citation management.
  • Stay current with trends in nursing education and information science, and continuously evaluate and update library resources and services to meet the evolving needs of the nursing school community.
  • Participate in collection development activities, including selection, evaluation, and deselection of library materials, with a focus on supporting the nursing curriculum and research interests.
  • Promote library resources and services through outreach activities, including orientations, presentations, and marketing initiatives targeted at nursing students and faculty.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of library policies, procedures, and strategic initiatives in collaboration with library colleagues and school administration.

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Library and Information Science.
  • 3-5 years of experience working in an academic library, preferably in a healthcare or nursing education setting.
  • Knowledge of information resources and research methodologies relevant to nursing and healthcare disciplines.
  • Familiarity with library technologies and systems, including integrated library systems (ILS), electronic resource management (ERM), and discovery tools.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Commitment to providing excellent customer service and supporting the information needs of library users.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and a proactive approach to problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in library services and collections.
