Job Summary:

As a safty officer, you will be responsible to Performs routine facility maintenance including the equipment associated with the building.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists in performing routine maintenance of all fire apparatus and tools of the department including non-powered tools such as axes pike poles, ladders, and other
  • miscellaneous equipment.
  • Ensure water level in hydrant tank is within safe height
  • Ensure trucks inside the depot are marshalled properly to avoid accidents.
  • Ensure fire hoses are in good and working condition
  • Ensure fire drills are conducted regularly
  • Ensure the fire alarm is in good and working condition
  • Checking trucks before entry into depot.
  • Marshalling the trucks inside the depot.
  • Making sure trucks are properly parked in the depot.
  • Making sure all trucks are properly earthed before loading
  • Check routinely all fire appliances.
  • Check daily the fire pumps for functionality.
  • Check daily stock and state of firefighting chemicals.
  • Check water stock level daily.
  • Replenish water stock level as necessary.
  • Conduct regular fire drills.
  • Ensure fire regulations compliance by all.
  • Check fire alarms and fire hoses regularly.
  • Lead firefighting in the event of fire.
  • Other assigned responsibilities

Requirements:

  • An OND in a Science or Engineering course
  • Relevant fire and Safety qualification
  • Good use of MS Word and Excel
  • Good Communication skills
  • A good team player
  • Timeliness
  • Sense of Responsibility
  • Alertness
  • An Ability to Work Independently
  • Physical Stamina Hard working
  • Team player
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills
