A 51-year-old man, Mr. Gilbert Ike Amos from the Ngwa area of Abia State, has been accused of brutally attacking his wife, Mrs. Glory, in Port Harcourt.
The incident reportedly occurred on March 12 at Emenike Street, Mile 2 Diobu, where Mr. Amos allegedly stabbed his wife on the nose and inflicted two additional stab wounds on her laps, close to her private area. Sources say the attack followed a dispute over the woman’s decision to end their relationship, during which the suspect allegedly made further threats against her.
Mrs. Glory was immediately taken to the Azikiwe Police Division in Illabouchi, where she was issued a medical examination form before being rushed to a hospital by her relatives for treatment.
Family sources revealed that the victim had previously fled their home due to repeated domestic violence. These incidents had reportedly been reported several times at the Mile 1 Diobu Divisional Police Headquarters. She had also recently sought intervention from the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) prior to the attack.
Their only child, a daughter, had earlier left the home due to the ongoing abuse.
Police authorities have confirmed that the suspect is currently at large, and efforts are underway to apprehend him and ensure he faces justice.
