A Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt will on the 15th of September, 2022 commence hearing on the suit filed by the People’s Democratic Party in the state against Social Democratic Party over alleged non compliance to new electoral act.
The PDP is asking the court to nullify the National Assembly primaries that brought in the candidates of the social Democratic party for alleged non compliance to the electoral guidelines.
The main ruling party in Rivers State are claiming that the SDP conducted their party primaries in a single venue in Port Harcourt rather than the wards and Local Government Areas as prescribed by the new electoral law and therefore contravene the act.
Our correspondent reports that when the matter was mentioned in court, counsel to SDP Candidates, FEMI FALANA SAN moved motion for extension of time to enable him respond to the originating summons of the PDP and to regularize his processes which was not opposed by Counsel to the PDP, EMMANUEL OKALA. SAN.
Presiding judge Justice STEPHEN DAYLOP-PAM after listening to the parties, adjourned till 15th of September, for hearing of the suit.
