A member of the Rivers Elders’ Forum and former Rivers State Commissioner for Works, Chief David Briggs, has alleged that Wike through a consultant hired by him demanded 97 percent of income and 3 percentage to the State Government account at the Dr Peter Odili Cancer and Cardiovascular Diagnostic Treatment Centre
In an interview with newsmen in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, on Wednesday, Briggs said the hospital is substandard.
He Stated “I am chief David Briggs, well in recent times about 3 or 4 days ago we all heard the outburst of the former governor of Rivers State barrister Nyesom Wike especially when he made reference of the fact that he build an hospital and name it after one man, he built a judicial institute and named it after one woman.
“it’s unfortunate for wike to describe his excellency, Sir Dr Peter Odili as one man is very disturbing that wike will today describe her excellency, Justice Mary Odili as one woman.
“But I want to put the records very clearly. Like I said previously, I don’t need to consult Odili to defend what I know is the truth. I don’t need his consent, and this is not with his consent to defend what i know is the truth.
“First that wike never and has never built any hospital to named after Dr. Peter Odili. that hospital was built or built by the Rivers State government by our money tax payers’ money and revenue derived from the federal account it was not wikes Hand work rather the reverse is the case.
“Dr Peter Odilk built a university and named part of the university after a son that they think is reasonable a son that they think is worthy to be a son so the reverse is the case.
“But let me state here and for Purpose of record. what is Odilis Offence in the sight of wike. Wike decided to destabilize River State by planning and impeachment of the present governor of Rivers State and asked Felix Obua to go and recruit Odili to be part of that Plan. Felix Obua went to Odilis House in attempt to recruiting him to be part of it and Odili rejected it and said you have just come here to be part of you?. Not to mediate if there’s any misunderstanding between the governor, present governor and wike, Please i will not be part of it but rather let me call and he did. He called wike begged him in the name of God , in the name of his own father that is departed, please dont do it, you brought this man let us settle this matter Amicably and wike promise him yes he’s going to do that he was coming to Port Harcourt that weekend and he was going to see him.
“Wike came, executed his plan, perfected his impeachment move that unfortunately failed very woefully and Odili still intervened and wike pretended as if there was network problem and dropped his call.
“As for the hospital he cliam to be the best in West Africa. the cancer and cardiovascal Hospital that is the worst hospital that has been so far built and I think is important for julius Berger to call wikes attention so it will not make some of us to expose the inconpitency of julius Berger.
“That hospital that is a cancer hospital, hospital that is supposed to take care of heart problem do not have a radiotherapy section in their design and Implementations. That hospital that he is talking about do not have kimotherapy section I bet with anybody I’m challenging the media in Nigeria, Come let’s go and take a confirmation tour at the place if those things exist. I bet my integrity and I submit myself to police for persecution and ask yourself how a cancer center function without radiotherapy without the chemotherapy section.
“And the worst of it, wike should hide himself in shame. The fact that some of us have not spoken is because we are now elders and we want the peace of Rivers State.
“A man who concluded building an Hospital with Rivers Peoples money running into Billions enter into agreement with the consultant he brought, entered into agreement that the profit sharing will be 97% to the consultancy and 3% to the Rivers state Government.
“97 for managing the place percent and those who actually brought out the money to build in the will have only 3%
“It’s time for him to learn to be quiet the way the governor is quiet so that we can enjoy peace not to come week after week to create tension in this state. it’s time for him to stop insulting Odili either by words or by actions Because each time he does that it’s agitating the Minds of rivers people and at the end of the day it will be very difficult. there’s a proverb that says that if a child goes to the dustbin to disturb the dustbin, either he will have a lacerations or a portured wood
