Kuje Medium Prison on Tuesday night came under heavy bombardments by terrorists, throwing the entire area Council into confusion.
The first explosion, a high capacity bomb, went off around 10.25pm. It was followed by second and third blast and sporadic gunshots that left the residents scampering into safety.
Few hours earlier, security report had alerted the prison officials of possible attacks of the medium prison.
A prison staff, who confirmed the attack explained that the attackers had come from the back of the prison yard.
This is coming few hours after the Presidents advance team was attacked on their way to to Daura, Katsina state for Sallah Celebrations on Tuesday.
The Presidency has described the ugly attack as sad and unwelcome, the shooting incident near Dutsinma, Katsina State, at the convoy of cars carrying the Advance Team of security guards, protocol and media officers ahead of the President, Muhammadu Buhari’s trip to Daura for Sallah.”
