Call For Applications: NNPC/TotalEnergies Empowering the teachers Fellowship Program 2024.

TotalEnergies is a multi-energy company that produces and markets energies on a global scale: oil and biofuels, natural gas and green gases, renewables and others.

Empowering the Teachers (E TT) is a teaching-focused fellowship offered by MISTI (MIT International Science and Technology Initiative) at the Massachusetts institute of Technology (MIT) and the Nligerian National Petroleum Company Limited, TotalEnergies EP Nigeria Limited and Partners.

ETT enables Nigerian faculty in science and engineering to experience a semester at the Massachusets institute of Technology (MIT). Selected felows wil observe instruction in their disciplines and work as group under the guidance of a MIT faculy member to prepare innovatve curicula and approaches to teaching that can be introduced into their home universities on their return.

NNPC Ltd/TotalEnergies EP Nigeria Limited ‘s objective for this program is to contribute to the socio- economic development of Nigeria by enabling the provision of quality education through partnership with reputable local and international academic institutions. The ETT Fellowship is a laboratory for innovation in engineering education, leading to impactful transformations in the Nigerian tertiary academic sphere.

The fellowship is searching for young Nigerian faculty members driven to positively impact their home institutions and students on their return.

ETT will cover basic travel, living and instructional materials expenses of the participants only.
The home universities of the successful applicants will commit to provide paid leave of absence during the period of the MIT programme

Eligibility Criteria:

ETT welcomes applications from all qualified faculty who are:

  • Interested in developing new curriculum and teaching methods and who consider themselves to be change-agents.
  • A faculty member holding a PhD ard teaching in a department corresponding to Computer science, Environmental Science, Electrical, Environmental, Mechanical, Chemical, Computer or Petroleum Engineering or Geophysics, at a university in Nigeria .
  • Lecturer One or Two rank. Applicant must have completed their their PhD as at the time of applying.
  • Firmly committed to returning to the home university in Nigeria at the conclusion of the fellowship. and remain there for not less than three (3) years
  • thereafter.

During their time at MIT, selected faculty members will:

  • Observe at least two classes similar to those they currently teach
  • Develop new curricular materials and teaching approaches for adoption in their home universities
  • Attend two weekly MIT-ETT seminars focused on curriculum design and MIT cultural aspects

  • Upload all required documents and submit your application.
  • Applications will undergo a thorough vetting process, and an MIT committee will establish a list of top candidates
  • Interviews will take place in Lagos with MIT faculty and representatives of NNPC Limited and Total Energies during the week of July 22.
  • Selected candidates will receive interview notifications at the beginning of July 2024
  • Only short-listed candidates will be contacted for the selection interview
  • TotalEnergies reserves the right to modify, alter, reverse, or change the schedule and/or the selection process
