President Bola Tinubu’s administration has launched the Presidential Metering Initiative, a programme designed to train 5,000 additional meter installers across Nigeria to help close the country’s estimated 5-million-unit metering gap.
Trainees will be trained by the National Power Training Institute of Nigeria (NAPTIN) and certified by the Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA), giving them a recognised professional credential in the power sector.
The goal is simple, end estimated billing, create jobs, and put technical income-earning skills in the hands of young Nigerians.
No prior experience is needed and the Training is free.

Requirements:
- Must be a Nigerian citizen between 18 and 35 years of age
- Must have a science background.
- Posses a minimum of SSCE or equivalent
- Open to NYSC members and students of technical and vocational institutions
- Must have a valid and correct NIN (incorrect NIN leads to disqualification)
- Must be physically and mentally fit for the role
- Willing to learn and work in the power sector
- No prior experience required
