EPT: Wike Ally, Senator Barry Mpigi losses Case against Labour Party Candidate

An Appeal Court in Abuja has ordered embattled Senator Barry Mpigi of Rivers South-East Senatorial District to pay the sum of N300,000 to Dr Douglas Fabeke on each of the appeal, his opponent in the February election who is challenging his declaration at the Tribunal.

The appellate Court gave the order on Thursday, 6th July 2023 while ruling on three count charges filed by Senator Mpigi against Dr Fabeke.

Senator Mpigi had approached the Appeal Court to stop Dr Fabeke from presenting some documents at the Tribunal for certain reasons.

The appeal Court during its ruling, frowned at the charges, adding that the Tribunal would rule before approaching the Appeal.

The Court further ordered Senator Mpigi to pay N300,000 each for the three charges he filed against Dr Fabeke Douglas for inconveniencing him.

In a swift reaction, Dr Fabeke thanked the Appeal Court, adding that the court has proven to be the last hope of the common man.

He disclosed that he has instructed his team of lawyers to notify the embattle Senator Mpigi to adhere to the Court order.

As you may know, Dr Douglas Fabeke, the Labour Party Senatorial Candidate for Rivers South East dragged Senator Mpigi to Election Petition Tribunal to challenge the declaration of Mpigi as the winner of the Election.
