We are seeking qualified candidates to join our team as an Hydrocarbon Accountant.
Job Summary
The Hydrocarbon Accountant is responsible for managing and overseeing all hydrocarbon accounting activities, ensuring accurate measurement, allocation, accounting, reconciliation, ands reporting of hydrocarbon production, lifting, and inventory. The role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and supports operational and commercial decision-making through reliable hydrocarbon data management.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and account for daily hydrocarbon production, lifting, and inventory movements.
- Reconcile production volumes with metering systems, field reports, and export data.
- Prepare and maintain hydrocarbon balanceuu reports (production, losses, stock, and transfers).
- Validate and reconcileu custody transfer data and terminal statements.
- Ensure accuracy of allocation of production volumes to partners and stakeholders.
- Track crude oil and gas sales volumes and support revenue reconciliation.
- Liaise with operations to resolve discrepancies in production and metering data.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements and industry standards.
- Support internal and external audits by providing accurate hydrocarbon accounting records and documentation.
- Maintain proper documentation of hydrocarbon transactions and reporting processes.
- Participate in meter calibration reviews and loss/gain analysis.
- Provide periodic reports to management on production performance and variances.
- Regulatory reporting and compliance (NEITI, NUPRC, etc.).
- Lead process improvements, system enhancements, and automation initiatives.
- Establish, maintain, and continuously improve internal controls and procedures relating to Hydrocarbon accounting.
Requirements
- Minimum of a first degree in Accounting, Finance, Engineering, or a related field
- MBA or Master’s in a related discipline will be an added advantage.
- Demonstrated experience implementing HSE-MS and conducting investigations.
- Relevant professional certifications such as ICAN, ACCA, or related field
- Minimum of 5-7 years relevant experience in hydrocarbon accounting or oil & gas operations
- Experience with production accounting systems and metering processes.
- Familiarity with upstream oil & gas operations
