Just in: Senators grill Wike, Police Commissioner Over Insecurity in FCT

by Area Talk

The Senate is currently in a closed-door meeting with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and the Commissioner of Police, Benneth Igwe.

The Senate decided to postpone the first order of the day to another legislative day in order to hold a meeting with the two officials in a closed-door session within the Committee of the Whole.

Deputy Senate Leader, Oyelola Ashiru, proposed the motion, which was supported by the Minority Leader.

Ashiru stated, “The minister and the commissioner will provide us with information on the security measures in the FCT.”

It is worth noting that the Senate had summoned Wike and the Commissioner of Police on Wednesday, February 28, in relation to the murder of Chris Agidy, an aide to Senator Ned Nwoko, by kidnappers.

More details will be provided shortly.
