Nigeria’s Transportation minister, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, CON, is the winner of the 2021 DMOMA Leadership & Excellence prestigious Public Sector Icon and Distinguished Minister of The Year Award.
The colourful event which had 950 nominations drawn from a cross section of academics, politicians, entrepreneurs, administrators, across the country saw the workaholic Transportation minister beat other eminent public sector giants, to make the final list of 60 recipients who were duly accorded recognition in the various award categories.
Organizers of the award said the Minister’s choice was in recognition of the future he represents for Nigeria. They said the former Rivers State Governor is undoubtedly the flagship of the infrastructural undertaking of the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration. The organizers also averred that Amaechi is conscientiously ushering Nigeria into a propitious future by his efficient execution of Mr. President’s blueprint in the Transportation sector, especially the overhauling of the railway subsector of the economy.
An elated Hon. Amaechi who was ably represented at the event by a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and former Chief of Staff of Port Harcourt City Council, Hon. Ordinance Emeji, expressed profound gratitude to DMOMA Awards and pledged his unswerving commitment to the sustenance of the economic drive of Mr. President through the repositioning of the Maritime and Railway Transportation subsectors in Nigeria. He urged entrepreneurs to seize the wide range of opportunities offered by President Buhari’s huge infrastructural investments to create Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) capable of complementing the efforts of the Federal Government. He added that the responsibility of Government is not to do business but to provide a conducive atmosphere for economic stability. Amaechi further said that the responsibility of enjoying the Nigeria of our dream is a duty of all and sundry.
Earlier while acknowledging the recognition by DMOMA Awards, Hon. Ordinance Emeji described the awardee severally as, “Mr. Fix, the focal point of Nigeria politics, the future of our democracy and a pragmatic leader tirelessly working to connect all sections of the country by rail,” — appellations which elicited a deafening applause from the audience.
The Award ceremony organised under the auspices of Dez Mayorz Online Media Awards held on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at the popular Royal Tent Event Center, GRA, Port Harcourt and had in attendance creme de la creme of politicians, captains of industry, socialites, amongst others.
