Job Summary
The Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Technician is responsible for the installation, inspection, maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical and instrumentation systems used in SNG facilities. The role ensures safe, reliable, and efficient operation of plant equipment in compliance with company standards, industry regulations, health, safety, and environmental (HSE) requirements.
Responsibilities
Electrical Duties:
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical equipment including motors, generators, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, UPS systems, and lighting
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on LV electrical systems
- Troubleshoot electrical faults and perform root cause analysis
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, load list/schedule, and technical drawings
- Carry out electrical isolation, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and permit-to-work procedures
Instrumentation Duties:
- Install, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot field instruments such as pressure, temperature, flow, and level transmitters
- Perform loop checking, calibration, and functional testing of instrumentation and control systems
- Maintain and service control valves, actuators, positioners, and analyzers
- Troubleshoot PLC and DCS related instrumentation issues
- Read and interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams, and instrument datasheets
General Responsibilities:
- Support commissioning, start-up, shutdown, and turnaround activities
- Ensure compliance with hazardous area classifications and explosion-proof requirements
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, calibration certificates, and reports
- Coordinate with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams
- Adhere strictly to HSE policies, participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and risk assessments
Requirements:
- NTC, ND, HND or BSc in Instrumentation, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field
- Minimum of 5–8 years of experience in E&I maintenance within oil and gas or process facilities
- Solid understanding of electrical power systems and process instrumentation
- Knowledge of international standards (IEC, ISA, API, NFPA)
Required Skills and Competencies
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Hands-on experience with field instruments, control valves, motors, and drives
- Knowledge of PLC/DCS systems and industrial communication protocols (knowledge of Siemens PLC and Emerson Delta-V will be an added advantage)
- Proficiency with calibration tools and electrical test equipment
- Strong safety awareness and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Adaptability to handle emergencies and evolving technologies
Working Conditions
- May require shift work, on-call duty, and emergency response
- Work may be in remote locations
- Exposure to hazardous environments requiring strict safety compliance
