Principals across Rivers State Senior and Junior secondary schools on Friday jubilated over the resignation of the Commissioner for Education, Prof Chinedu Nmom.
The Principals described the former commissioner as a conduit and a merchant who was never interested in the advancement of the sector, but a contractor.
They further accused the former commissioner of impoverishing them and dragging education backward through his manipulative approach.
According to one of them who sought anonymity said the former commissioner was a scavenger who was carting away school property after commissioning even when the government has paid for them. She said the commissioner throughout his tenure deprived all schools overheads and running funds even after the government has released the funds to him.
The Principals said his resignation was a good omen and called on Governor Siminalayi Fubara to appoint a more competent person as his replacement so as to achieve his goals for the education sector.
