The State Executive Committee (SEC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Akwa Ibom State chapter has been inaugurated. The inauguration took place today Friday, 4th February 2022 at State Secretariat of the party, 149 Ikot Ekpene Road, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State Capital.
Inaugurating the State Executive officers who were elected on 16th October 2021 at Sheer Grace Arena at a Congress Conducted by the Seven-man congress Committee led by Alhaji Yusuf Banki Sheriff, New State Chairman, Mr Austin Ekanem said the inauguration was a call to duty to mobilise Akwa Ibom public towards achieving the focus of the party which he said is defeating the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in 2023 and forming an APC led State Government in Akwa Ibom State to bring about positive change to the citizens.
Mr. Ekanem who was inaugurated as State Chairman on Thursday, 3rd February 2022 in Abuja at the National Headquarters of the party, said he will work toward bringing various groups within the party together and charged the new members of SEC to close ranks and work hard at marketing the vision and programs of APC to Akwa Ibomites to bring more support to the party.
Ekanem who took a brief review of strategic engagements by the party ahead of the 2023 general elections, told members of the party who had thronged the party secretariat that APC is open to accommodating new interest groups within the state who may wish to join the party.
While thanking stakeholders for supporting the party, Ekanem promised to work to unite all interest groups in the party and give every party member a sense of belonging in the emerging new Government.
Earlier, the outgoing State Chairman, Dr Ita Udosen thanked the outgoing State Executive officers and entire members of the party for the support he enjoyed as Chairman of the party. Dr Udosen recalled some sad moments the party encountered including the demise of her State Chairman, Mr. Ini Okopido and thanked God that the party has remained strong and united with demonstrated commitment by her members, leaders and stakeholders to win the forth coming governorship poll in the state. Dr. Udosen further called for total support to the Austin Ekanem led exco to drive the party to victory in 2023.
Goodwill messages were delivered by eminent party leaders including His Grace, Arch Bishop Samuel Akpan, Leader of APC Coalition, AAC, Akwa Ibom State.
The new State Executive Committee has Mr Austin Ekanem as Chairman, Prince Uwemedimo Ekanem as Deputy Chairman, Mr Nkereuwen Enyongekere as State Secretary, Mr. Cletus Dick as State Assistant Secretary, Mr. Aniefiok Jackson, State Zonal Vice Chairman (1), Mr Joseph Gregory Ekerete, State Zonal Chairman (11), Dr Inyang Abia, State Zonal Chairman(111) representing Uyo, Ikot Ekpene and Eket Senatorial Districts respectively.
Others include: Barr. Tom Essien Udonsek, Legal Adviser, Bar Sam Inyangude, Assistant State Legal Adviser, Elder Imo Ukpe as Treasurer with Chief Pius Ita Okon as Assistant Treasurer, Pastor Udo Isaiah as State Financial Secretary; Mrs Maria Akanimo Thomas as Assistant Financial Secretary; Mr Aniekan Ekpo as State organising Secretary and Kinsley Udo Edoho as Assistant State Organising Secretary.
Also inaugurated were Solomon Johnny, State Publicity Secretary, Elder Samuel Akpan as State Assistant Publicity Secretary, Mrs Ekaete Isong as State Welfare Secretary, Hon Alex Umo as State Assistant Welfare Secretary, Mr Nelson Ekpo as State Auditor with Elder Friday Micheal U as State Assistant Auditor while Princess Nseobong Ekpo and Elder (Mrs) Roselyne Inyang were inaugurated as Women and State Assistant Women Leader’s respectively.
The party also inaugurated Mr Louis Paul Udo as State Youth Leader, Willyns Nteyoho as State Assistant Youth Leader, Prince Okon Enetak as State Special (Physically Challenge) Leader.
The party also inaugurated Hon Samuel Daniel Umo, Hon Charles Udoetuk, Ime Okon Edward as State Senatorial Youth Leader 1, 11 and 111 respectively; Mrs Rose Okon Unwana, Mrs Etieno Femi Awoga, Mrs Grace Akpabio as State Senatorial Women Leaders 1, 11 and 111 respectively; while Uwemedimo Ikamaenyin U, Emem Silas Akpan, Grace Ibanga Essien and Godwin David are Ex Officio 1, 11, 111 and 1V in the 36 member State Exco.
In a brief interaction with the Press, Solomon Johnny, Publicity Secretary said the new state exco is rejuvenated to provide leadership for APC in Akwa Ibom State and mobilise voters to vote for the party to win the next general election. He said the coming days will be engaging for the party and the Press as the two will be communicate APC programs to enable the masses make informed choices especially rejecting PDP at the poll having not been able to drive the Akwa Ibom dream of better life for all after 22 years in power.
