A groom and eleven other suspects have been remanded in a correctional center by a State High Court in Port Harcourt on July 18, 2024, in connection with the murder of a female Police Inspector, Christiana Erekere, who was attached to Taabaa Police Division in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The suspects are facing trial on 13 counts of conspiracy to commit murder, among other charges. They all pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to them.
The presiding Judge, Justice Augusta Chukwu, denied the bail applications made by the defendants’ lawyers and scheduled the next hearing for October 8 to expedite the legal process.
