The political crisis between the governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Joseph Fubara and his predecessor, the Minister of FCT, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike has taken a twist as the Governor reportedly adopts Actions people Party in the state to conduct the forthcoming local Government Election in the state.
The governor seemed to have lost out in the party structure of Peoples Democratic Party PDP, which he used to come into power after a political disagreement with his Predecessor, Nyesom Wike.
Recall that the people Democratic Party across the nation held her ward congress to elect new Party excos on the 27th of July 2024 but those loyal to the Rivers State Governor weren’t part of the congress which suggests that he is totally out from the Party structure in Rivers state
The State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt restrained the PDP, its National Chairman, Amb. Damagum; and National Secretary, Senator Anyanwu or their agents from gathering anywhere in Rivers State to hold Ward, LGA, and State congresses of the PDP pending the hearing and determination of the suit before him which he adjourned to 1st of August 2024.
It also ordered the IGP, Commissioner of Police Rivers State, Director-General State Security Service, and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps to ensure the order is adhered to.
According to a source, the governor has purchased a form for the 23 Local Government Area and 319 wards across the state to be issued to his preferred choice of candidate.

Meanwhile, A Federal High court in Abuja on Friday stopped the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from releasing voters register to the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) for the purpose of conducting the forthcoming local government elections in the state.
Justice Peter Lifu issued an order of interim injunction against INEC, while delivering ruling in a motion ex-parte brought before him by the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The judge fixed August 2 for all the defendants to appear before him for hearing of the substantive matter.
