Job Summary
As a General Surgeon at our esteemed healthcare organisation, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive surgical care to our patients. With your exceptional medical expertise and dedication to patient well-being, you will lead a team of skilled professionals in delivering high-quality surgical services. You will work closely with other medical specialists, nurses, and support staff to ensure seamless patient care and positive outcomes
Responsibilities:
- Performing complex surgical procedures to treat various medical conditions, including but not limited to general surgery, oncological surgery, and trauma surgery.
- Conducting thorough pre-operative assessments to evaluate patients’ medical history, current condition, and surgical risks.
- Developing comprehensive surgical plans in collaboration with other medical specialists to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients.
- Providing clear and concise explanations to patients and their families regarding surgical procedures, risks, and expected outcomes.
- Obtaining informed consent from patients prior to performing surgical procedures.
- Ensuring that the operating room environment is sterile and that all necessary equipment and instruments are available and functioning properly.
- Supervising and coordinating the activities of the surgical team, including nurses, anesthesiologists, and other support staff, to ensure efficient and effective patient care.

Requirements:
- Medical degree from an accredited institution
- Completion of a residency / Fellowship program in general surgery from a busy accredited institution.
- Board certification or equivalent in general surgery.
- Full Registration with Medical Council with license to practice in home country.
- Meet all requirement for registration with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN). Advanced training in a surgical subspecialty
- Master’s degree in healthcare administration or business
- Experience 5+ years of experience as a consultant general surgeon in a busy hospital
- Experience in a high-volume surgical practice
- Experience in a teaching or academic medical center
- Management and Leadership Proven track record of leading and managing a team of medical professionals
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to foster a positive and collaborative work environment
