Job Summary

The Instrumentation Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, calibrating, troubleshooting, and repairing instrumentation and control systems used in SNG gas distribution facilities. This role ensures accurate measurement, safe operation, and optimal performance of process control equipment in compliance with industry standards, company procedures, and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Install, inspect, maintain, and repair field instrumentation including pressure, temperature, flow, and level transmitters, flow meters and flow computers
  • Perform calibration and loop checking of instruments and control systems
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose faults in instrumentation, control valves, and PLC/DCS systems
  • Maintain and service control valves, actuators, and positioners
  • Read and interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals
  • Ensure instrumentation systems comply with safety, environmental, and operational standards
  • Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance activities as per maintenance schedules
  • Support commissioning, start-up, and shutdown activities
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, calibration reports, and inspection logs
  • Coordinate with operations, electrical, and engineering teams to resolve issues
  • Adhere to HSE policies and participate in safety meetings and risk assessments

Requirements:

  • NTC, ND, HND or BSc in Instrumentation, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field
  • Minimum of 5–8 years of experience in instrumentation maintenance within oil and gas facilities
  • Hands-on experience with field instruments and control valves
  • Knowledge of PLC/DCS systems and industrial communication protocols (knowledge of Siemens PLC and Emerson Delta-V will be an added advantage)
  • Familiarity with international standards (IEC, ISA, API)

  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and in team environments
  • Good understanding of process control systems
  • Proficiency in calibration tools and test equipment
  • Effective communication and documentation skills
  • Strong safety awareness and attention to detail
  • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications

Working Conditions

  • May require shift work, on-call duty, and emergency response
  • Work may be in remote location
  • Exposure to hazardous environments requiring strict safety compliance
