Rivers State Police Command Confirms the Killing of Air force Personnel in Rivers State.

The Police in Rivers State has confirmed the killing of a personnel by an operative of a local security group, known as OSPAC in Omuanwa Community in Ikwerre Local Government Area, Rivers State.

Confirming the development, Acting spokesperson of the Rivers State Police Command, DSP GRACE IRINGE-KOKO said the suspect named PROGRESS AMECHETA ‘N’Djamena has been arrested and detained in the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID),adding that investigations into the incident is ongoing.

Earlier, Chairman of Omuanwa Community Development Committee (CDC), Mr. CHIANG has revealed to our correspondent that the OSPAC member, allegedly responsible for the killing of Air Force personnel in the community has been apprehended and handed over to the Isiokpo Police Area Command in the LGA.

In a telephone interview the CDC Chairman explained “I learnt that before the incident on Tuesday, the Air force personnel allegedly went to the OSPAC office to order the release of a suspected cultist, who was in the process of denouncing cultism after he was arrested by OSPAC”.

Mr CHIANG stated that the suspect, popularly called ‘two face’ had pushed the Airforce personnel, also a native of the community identified as KASIKE EUGENE out of OSPAC office.

Mr CHIANG disclosed that he learnt that on Tuesday the Air force personnel mobilized his friend and went to the house of the OSPAC operative and allegedly beat him up.

He said as the fracas insured, the OSPAC personnel got hold of his gun and allegedly shot the Air force personnel dead.

The CDC Chairman condemned the killing of the Air Force personnel, stressing that the law should take its cause.

He however advised the Youth of the community not to engage in things that are inimical to the peace of the community, noting that it was the collective decision of the community to bring OSPAC and not his sole decision.
