Two Feared Dead as Gunmen Attack Emohua Community

Two people are feared dead following an attack on Rumuodogo Community in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State.

According to eyewitnesses, more than 20 armed men invaded the Rumuodogo 2 area on Sunday night, attacking residents, setting houses ablaze, and carting away valuables. The eyewitnesses alleged that the attackers were attempting to forcefully seize land belonging to the community.

There are also unconfirmed reports that some members of the Rumuodogo community may be planning a reprisal attack, although this has not been independently verified.

The Chairman of the Community Development Committee (CDC) of Olua Rumuodogo 2, Sunny Beke, confirmed that the attack occurred.

One resident said the gunfire lasted for about three hours, adding that his home and belongings were destroyed in the fire. He said he narrowly escaped with his wife.

As of the time of filing this report, the Rivers State Police Command had yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
