Champion Breweries Plc is an established brewery in Nigeria manufacturing Champion Lager Beer and Champ Malta as well as a selection on non-alcoholic beverages. The company also brews and packages products under contract to Nigerian Breweries Plc

Job Summary

The Brewing & Utilities Manager must ensure timely production of all fermented and non fermented beverages, is equated by the business in the right quantities and quality, at very minimal cost in a safe and environmentally friendly atmosphere. He/she is to ensure effective and efficient operation and maintenance of plant and machinery with zero loss and zero downtime mindset in brewing and utility. He/she will act as a role model and play a leadership role that supports team/associates’ development through active engagement and counseling

Responsibilities

  • Provide a stable policy for working conditions and environment
  • Monitor the ongoing facilities and activities thereof.
  • Ensure that working conditions and environment are in line with the low and company policies
  • Register relevant information with the appropriate authorities
  • Interpret Production Plan and set direction for SMB’s to achieve set targets
  • plan materials availability to match the production plan.
  • Plan effective preventive maintenance schedules in Brewing and Utility to minimize breakdown during production.
  • Hand over good quality bright beer in bright beer tanks to the Packaging Department for bottling and coach all SMBs to hand over good quality beer and work to one another while running shift.
  • Monitor implementation of plan and review in line with developments
  • Take decisions for unforeseen circumstances /occurrences
  • Ensure all production operations are carried out in line with the SPI
  • Identify aspects of production standards where improvements are possible and agree on modifications with the technological department
  • Ensure routine online quality control is carried out by production personnel
  • Ensure that production operations are audited and findings fed back to production processes.
  • Initiate, plan, and implement New Product Innovation, develops, maintains, and sustains good housekeeping in brewing and utility.
  • Provide feedback on materials and preferences based on practical experience
  • Recommend and follow up a career development plan for subordinates.
  • Evaluate and control manpower requirements.
  • Assess the performance and potential of employees.
  • Optimize the organisational structure and resources.
  • Ensure the training needs of employees agree with the head, production, and quality excellence are met.
  • Evaluate the performance of machines and establish trends and variances in performance.
  • Discuss observation with the Engineering Manager.
  • Provide time for maintenance without jeopardizing stock.
  • Monitor machines upkeep to achieve the best maintenance of the least possible cost and time

Report Line

  • The Brewing and Utilities Manager reports to the Head, Production, and Quality Excellence

Educational Qualification

  • Relevant Degree in Applied Sciences: Microbiology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Botany, or any relevant field in sciences.
  • Institute of Brewing and Distilling London Certification and craft training in NB SCA will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience in brewing process, food production, or in an FMCG Industry.
