The adjustment of the petrol pump price by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) to N617 per litre has sparked a wave of reactions from Nigerians.
Daily Trust had earlier reported that the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), popularly known as fuel or petrol, has increased to N617 per litre in the nation’s capital and N620 in Kano.
A visit to an NNPC filling station in the Central area of Abuja on Tuesday morning showed that the fuel price had been adjusted from N539 to N617 per litre.
A customer confirmed to this newspaper that he bought at the new rate.
“It is true, I just bought at N617 per liter,” he said.
This development, however, has brought about intense debate amongst citizens, with many voicing their concerns and frustrations over the rise.
While some Nigerians express their dissatisfaction with the government of President Bola Tinubu, others said they were organizing rallies and peaceful protests to call on the government to address the issue and stabilize fuel prices.
