Harassment and Double Ticketing in Rivers State, Silo/Bulk Truck Companies raises Alarm.

The Chairman, Silo/Bulk Truck Companies in Rivers State, Alhaji Chief Olanrewaju Taofeeq Olaide has raised an alarm over the continuous Harassment and Double Ticketing in the State.

In a press briefing in Port Harcourt, Olanrewaju Taofeeq Olaideably called on the State Governor. Sir Siminalayi Joseph Fubara to help in checkmating the double taxation in the name of LGA ticketing and harassment of her truck drivers by taskforce in the State, especially Obio Akpor and Phalga.

According to the public relations officer Comr. Godpower Echendu in a press release after the unions meeting held in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State Capital said the Silo/Bulk Truck Companies is an affiliate union of National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) ably led by Comrade Alhaji Ibikunle Tejudeen Baruwa.

“Silo/Bulk Truck Companies is made up of various trucks Companies (especially Silo and bulk trucks)”

According to him, How can the union pay the State Government tax, buy tickets that covers the year for their trucks only to hear that the truck has been stopped and seized by taskforce.

“How can the union pay the State Government tax, buy tickets that covers the year for trucks only to hear that our truck has been stop and seized by taskforce. Most times, this taskforce guys come from the Obio Akpor Council and Portharcourt City (Phalga). One year won’t round up another group will stop our trucks for another ticket that doesn’t exist except in their office.

“The (Silo/Bulk Truck Companies) are saying enough of this Continuous Taskforce harassment and double ticketing in the State.

“We will halt our operation in this State if the harassment of Taskforce continues” they said.

The Chairman also called on their members to be to continue In their peaceful disposition for the progress of the State.
