Transfer the Election Tribunal to Abuja for our Lawyers Safety ~Rivers APC tells Appeal Court President

The All progressive Congress in Rivers State have Appealed to The President of the Court of Appeal, Monica Dongban-Mensem to Move the Rivers State Election Petition Tribunal to Abuja over lack of Security in the state.

This was made in a press briefing by the leadership of All Progressive Congress in Rivers State on Sunday.

Addressing the press at the Party’s State Office, Chief Emeka Beke, The Chairman All progressive Congress in Rivers state said there lawyers are not safe anymore due to continuous harassment and arrest of her members by men of The Nigerian police force in the State.

“We are appealing to The President of the Court of Appeal, Monica Dongban-Mensem to relocate the Election Petition Tribunal to Abuja to avoid further arrest of our lawyers handling our cases”

“Yesterday our Lawyers were arrested and taken to the Police quarters despite proven to them that they are lawyers handling our cases at the Election Tribunal. Laptops and Documents ceased”

“The police in the State beyond doubt have proven to be biased. At election Eve, our candidates and party members were arrested and locked up till date” he said

Area Talk Report understand that the Lawyers handling cases for the All Progressive Congress APC in Rivers state at the early hours of Saturday were arrested by men of the Nigerian police Following a tipoff according to the police press statement by the police public relations officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko who said they got
an information that some lodgers occupying three (3) rooms in a popular hotel, were seen carrying packages in and out of the rooms, and printing what seems like INEC documents (including results).
