Warrant of arrest on Amaechi, Cole; Court Warns Justice Chiwendu of State High court, cautions against further Action.

An Appeal Court sitting in Port Harcourt has warned against any further action from the order of a Rivers State High Court in a criminal suit by the State Government against former Governor, CHIBUIKE AMAECHI and five others.

The State High Court presided over by Justice CHINWEDU NWOGU had on the 17th of May, issued a warrant of arrest against AMAECHI, the Governorship Candidate of the APC, PATRICK TONYE-COLE, former Commissioner for Energy, AUGUSTINE WOKOCHA and three others.

At the appeal court, counsel to CHIBUIKE AMAECHI, AKIN OLUJIMI, informed the court that the ruling of Justice CHINWEDU NWOGU of the State High Court on the criminal suit was in disregard to an order of Stay of Proceedings pending before the appellate court.

OLUJIMI also drew the attention of the court on an application to set to aside the proceedings of the Rivers State High Court pending before the appeal court which was also disregarded by the State High Court.

Correspondent AYO ODUNGWERU reports that a three man panel led by Justice JOSEPH IKYEGH reserved ruling on the applications after the parties argued and adopted their final written addresses.

Speaking outside the courtroom, AKIN OLUJIMI who is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria told newsmen that it was necessary stop other legal actions pending the appeal court’s decision.
