The Tonye Cole/ Barikor Campaign Organization In Akuku- Toru Local Government Area has Condemned the failed kidnapping/ Assassination Attempt against their Son, Pastor Tonye Cole, the Governorship candidate of APC in Rivers State and others in Opobo/Nkoro LGA
In a press Statement by Media and Communications Directorate TCCO, Akuku-Toru LGA onJanuary 31 2023 which reads partly
“Today can be described as a very forgettable day in the history of democracy in Rivers State as we have never come this low before”.
“Today, January 31, 2023 in Opobo town, the home town of the PDP Guber candidate was a deliberate attempt to stop the APC and her Guber candidate from campaigning as Sim Fubara and his political thugs laid ambush on the Tonye Cole campaign trail which ended up with heavy gun shorts as well as vandalisation of some of the cars that accompanied the campaign team and for which the Nigerian Police Force seem helpless and or are rather playing to the gallery after been compromised by Governor Wike of Rivers State through the Commissioner of Police Rivers State”.

“It should therefore be on record that this will be the last time we are going to entertain any such attack from Governor Wike, the PDP or are evil agents and partners in crime. As we can no longer fold our hands to a compromised Nigerian Police Force in Rivers State that has decided to look the other way whilst their partners in crime constantly carry out their evil plans on the APC, SDP, ACCORD party etc in Rivers State”.
“We therefore call on the attention of President Buhari to stop being aloof and do the needful with regards to the protection of lives and properties in Rivers State”.
“We are also calling on the Presidential candidate of the APC, Bola Tinibu to prove to Rivers APC for once that we have not been traded off to Governor Wike and make proper statement as well as insist on the immediate cease fire on the executive rascality of Governor Wike on Rivers APC and Rivers people at large”.
“This urgent call to protect the lives and properties of the members of Rivers APC also goes out to the National Party Chairman of our great party, APC and all other National Party members”.
“Let it also be on record that the security agencies and especially the Inspector General of Police have since kept a deaf hears to our cries, complains, brutalities and all manner of violence and social vices upon our people.
And worst still is that the Nigerian Police Force here in Rivers State would always come up with blatant lies to defend their partners in crime and without any investigations, arrest or prosecution of the culprit”.
“Let it be on record that henceforth, we will by all means possible resist them and defend ourselves to the best of our knowledge especially since the Nigerian Police Force in Rivers State have been seen to be hubnubbing with the perpetrators of these evil acts due to their being heavily compromised by Governor Wike and Sim Fubara of Rivers State”.
“It is also on record that this is not the first time that attacks such as this has been melted out on our illustrious Son Pastor Arc Tonye Barinua Cole mni, starting from the explosives and sporadic gun shots in the APC campaign rally in Phalga, the use of the men of the Nigerian Police Force to forcefully send us out of the approved venue in Oyigbo Local Government Area, the attempt to disrupt our campaign rallies in Asari-Toru LGA and even in Asarama. Just to mention but a few”.
“We therefore say that ENOUGH IS ENOUGH”
“Akuku-Toru and indeed the Kalabari nation and Rivers people at large will no longer hold her hands and watch unscrupulous elements attempt to rubbish and intimidate our illustrious Son, Pastor Arc Tonye Barinua Cole mni especially since the security agencies have failed in their primary duty of protecting lives and properties of all and sundry in our dear Rivers State”.
“We hereby call for a peaceful conduct of all of the political parties and their gladiators so as to enhance a peaceful co-existence amongst everyone in Rivers State”
