Police Officer attached to Rivers State taskforce team shoots man to Dead

Men of the Nigerian Police Force attached to the Rivers State Taskforce on illegal refining of petroleum spirits known as Kpofire has allegedly Shoot man to death in Rivers State.

Area Talk Report gathered that The Incident happened on Thursday, 4th of March 2022 in Rundele Community, Emohua local Government Area when the team of the taskforce led by the ward Councellor, Mr. Emenike Wokanma Stormed the Forest in the community in search of Local refining Site.

Our correspondent in an interview with an indigene of the community who spoke in anonymity confirmed the incident stating that the Chairman of Emohua local Government, Dr. Chidi Lloyd in his mandate to adhering the directive from the state Government to end illegal refining of petroleum in the state sent his team together with the state task force but unfortunately Mr. Alete Minikwu became a victim of the raid.

He said “yes what happened is true as I can confirm to you that a young man in his late thirties, Mr. Alete Minikwu is dead”

More so, he narrated that trouble started when the taskforce team invaded the bunkering site in the community and started shooting on the Air to Scare the illegal refiners away but unfortunately Mr. Alete sighing his brother who happens to be the counsellor refused to run and one of the Police officers attached to the team shut him on the leg but gave up a ghost while sending him to the University of Port Harcourt teaching Hospital (UPTH).

As at time of filling this report, no official statement has been made from the Rivers State command of the Nigerian Police.
