Rivers State governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has directed the security agencies to arrest his former Political Ally, Hon. Chinyere Igwe owner of Mega Tool filling station over involvement in illegal oil bunkering in Port Harcourt
The governor said government will ensure the prosecution of the owner of the filling station to demonstrate the resolve to reduce illegal oil bunkering activities in the State to the barest minimum.
The Governor Made the Declaration on Saturday, 20th August 2022 during a Flagg off of the Construction of internal roads in Omagwa, Ikwerre local Government Area, Rivers State.
This is Coming a day after Security Agencies on the orders of the Governor had sealed the Filling Station “MEGA TOOL” in mile 2 Diobu, Port Harcourt.
Hon. Chinyere Igwe is the House of Representatives member representing Port Harcourt II constituency in the 9th National Assembly.
In reaction to the allegations, Hon. Chinyere Igwe in a live broadcast monitored in Port Harcourt said it is Politically Motivated.
“Since when did my filing Station started selling illegally refined petroleum Motor Spirit.
“All this is happening because I chosed to Support the Presidential Candidate of Our Party, Atiku Abubakar in Rivers State.
“The Governor who is know for his public outburst had promised to clamp down on anyone who is supporting the Presidential Candidate without his Permission he said.
Igwe is an ally of former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Austin Opara, who is a staunch supporter of the presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar.
Also a hotel said to be owned by Ikenda Chinda, a relative to Austin Opara, has also been sealed off.
Similarly, a lounge belonging to Ogbonda Jones, who is also an ally of Opara, has also been sealed up by the police.
