by Area Talk

The High Court in Port Harcourt has ordered Multi-Choice Nigeria Limited to pay the sum of Four Hundred Thousand naira as damage to one of their customers Gift Major who they failed to render service after paying for his upgraded subscription.

The order came after the company appealed against the judgment of a chief Magistrate court which Mr Major dragged them to for failing to upgrade him.

But Multi-Choice Nigeria Limited dissatisfied with the judgment of the trial court that compelled them to give a one-year free subscription to Mr. Major appealed against the judgment before a High court.

The presiding Judge, Justice Magrete Okpara in her judgment upheld part of the Chief Magistrate Court’s decision that ordered the Multi-Choice to pay two hundred thousand naira as the cost to the complainant.

Justice Okpara however changed the one-year free subscription to four hundred thousand naira as damage to be paid to Mr. Gift Major.

The Complainant Gift Major who is also the lawyer in the matter explained to newsmen that with the judgement, consumers are now empowered to challenge service providers who do not provide service that consumers paid for..
