The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, has travelled out of Nigeria, despite the unresolved crisis over his position.
According to Simon Imobo-Tswam, Ayu’s Special Adviser on Media and Communications, said the Chairman will be out of the country till the end of the month.
While he is away, Deputy Chairman (North) of the party, Umar Iliya Damagun will keep forte.
The reasons for the journey and Ayu’s foreign destination were not made known by his media aide.
Recall that there have been call for the resignation of Ayu from a strong section of the party loyal to Nyesom Wike to quit
According to the group led by Rivers governor Nyesom Wike, Ayu’s position can no longer be justified after the party picked fellow northerner Atiku Abubakar as presidential flag bearer.
However, the party last week passed a vote of confidence on the chairman last week.
