The West African Examinations Council (WAEC), a sub-regional organization responsible for conducting various examinations in English-speaking West African countries, invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the following positions at its Nigeria National Office.

1. Assistant Registrar II

    Responsibilities

    • Successful applicants will be responsible for the development and moderation of test items in their areas of specialization and will also participate in other examination-related activities of the Council.

    Requirements:

    • Applicants must possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree (at least Second Class Lower Division) from a recognized university in any of the following areas:
      • Music B.A. Music / BCA (B.A.) Music
      • Special Education B.Ed. (Hons) Special Education (Visual Impairment)
    • A minimum of three (3) years post-qualification teaching experience is required.

    2. Accountants

    Responsibilities

    Successful applicants will be required to perform the following duties, among others, within the Finance Division:

    • Prepare and monitor annual budgets.
    • Conduct financial and cash analysis.
    • Maintain fixed asset and nominal ledgers.
    • Ensure financial statements comply with relevant laws and regulations.
    • Supervise all accounting staff in their assigned offices.
    • Oversee the preparation and management of financial data and reports for the Council.
    • Review income and expenditure trends and recommend appropriate budgetary controls.
    • Assess cost reduction strategies and cash flow improvement.
    • Serve as statutory members of designated Management Committees.
    • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Head of Office.

    Requirements:

    Applicants must:

    • Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field (minimum Second Class Lower Division).
    • Be an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) or the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), or an equivalent recognized international accounting body such as ACCA (UK).
    • Have at least three (3) years post-NYSC professional experience in accounting practice.

    3. Human Resources Management Officer

    Responsibilities

    Successful applicants will be required to perform the following duties, among others:

    • Assist in developing and implementing HR policies and procedures.
    • Handle staff and management issues.
    • Maintain accurate HR and employee records.
    • Prepare HR reports and statistics.
    • Manage performance appraisal systems.
    • Provide HR-related advisory support to departments.
    • Perform other duties as may be assigned.

    Requirements:

    Applicants must:

    • Hold a Bachelor’s Degree (minimum Second Class Lower Division) in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, or a related discipline.
    • Be registered members of a recognized HR professional body (such as CIPM, SHRM, or CIPD).
    • Have at least three (3) years post-NYSC HR work experience in employee relations, HR analytics, recruitment, or generalist HR roles.
    • Possession of a Master’s Degree in a relevant field will be an added advantage.

    4. Medical Doctor

    Responsibilities

    The successful applicant will perform the following duties, among others:

    • Provide effective clinical management of staff, including diagnosis, investigation, treatment, and follow-up.
    • Offer medical advisory services.
    • Conduct medical assessments and maintain proper documentation.
    • Deliver health education seminars.
    • Develop and implement health programs for staff.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Head of Medical Services.

    Requirements

    Applicants must:

    • Hold a Degree in Medicine and Surgery from a recognized university.
    • Be fully registered with the MDCN.
    • Have completed the NYSC program.
    • Have a minimum of one (1) year post-NYSC relevant experience in a reputable clinical setting.
    • Be computer literate and proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

    5. Internal Auditor II

    Responsibilities

    Successful applicants will be assigned to the Audit Department of WAEC International Office, Lagos, and will assist in:

    • Evaluating internal controls and making recommendations for improvement.
    • Assessing the reliability and validity of accounting data and reports.
    • Monitoring and reviewing business processes and identifying shortcomings.
    • Ensuring compliance with laws, policies, and regulations.
    • Preparing financial audit reports for management review.
    • Evaluating organizational risk relating to strategic objectives.
    • Performing any other related duties as may be assigned.

    Requirements:

    Applicants must:

    • Possess a Bachelor’s Degree (minimum Second Class Lower Division) in Accounting or a related discipline.
    • Be an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) or the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA, UK).
    • Have a minimum of three (3) years post-NYSC relevant work experience.

    General Requirements

    Applicants must:

    • Be able to use personal computers and standard office software.
    • Have excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Be able to work with minimal supervision and meet strict deadlines.
    • Be analytical, organized, and detail-oriented.
    • Be a team player with strong interpersonal skills.
    • Applicants must possess five (5) credits in WAEC/SSCE/GCE or equivalent, including English Language and Mathematics, obtained in no more than two sittings.
    • Applicants must not be more than 40 years old at the time of application.
    • Applicants must have completed the NYSC program or possess an approved exemption certificate.
