A. QUALIFICATIONS FOR ACADEMIC STAFF POSITIONS
Professor:
- Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in the relevant discipline with a minimum of twelve (12) years of continuous university teaching and research experience.
- A strong record of distinguished scholarship is required, normally evidenced by at least twenty-eight (30) peer-reviewed publications in reputable local journals, out of which thirteen (13) must be from foreign, indexed journals; sustained postgraduate supervision to completion; significant external research funding or leadership of major projects; and substantial administrative/academic leadership experience.
- Registration with relevant professional bodies (where applicable) is required.
Reader / Associate Professor:
- Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in the relevant field with at least nine (9) years of uninterrupted teaching and research experience in a university or equivalent environment. Applicants must have a sustained record of scholarly achievement, normally evidenced by a minimum of
- twenty-five (25) peer-reviewed publications out of which seven(7)
- Must be from foreign indexed journal, substantial postgraduate supervision, conference leadership, and demonstrable administrative or leadership experience.
- Professional recognition and registration (where applicable) are required.
Senior Lecturer
- Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in the appropriate discipline with a minimum of five (5) years of university teaching and research experience.
- A good record of publications (minimum twelve (12) peer-reviewed scholarly works out of which five (5) must be from foreign indexed journal), and evidence of postgraduate supervision and administrative contribution.
- Candidates should normally have served at Lecturer I level for a minimum period of two years (where applicable) and demonstrate impact in teaching, research and community engagement.
Lecturer I
- Candidates should normally hold a Ph.D. in the appropriate discipline, with at least three (3) years of post-doctoral/lecturing experience and a demonstrable record of scholarly publications (minimum six (6) peer-reviewed journal articles).
- Where relevant, a Ph.D. combined with appropriate professional certification/registration can be considered.
- Applicants are expected to have a developing record of teaching effectiveness and supervision.
Lecturer II
- Minimum qualification is a Ph.D. in the relevant discipline OR a Master’s degree with at least three (3) years of university teaching/research experience plus evidence of scholarly output (minimum two (2) journal publication).
- Alternatively, candidates who have served a minimum of two (2) years as an Assistant Lecturer with satisfactory teaching and research evidence may be considered.
- Professional registration where applicable, is an added advantage.
Assistant Lecturer
- Candidates must have a Master’s degree (M.Sc./M.A. or equivalent) in the relevant discipline from a recognized university.
- Evidence of registration for a Ph.D. programme or active plans to undertake doctoral studies is an advantage.
- Candidates should demonstrate potential for teaching and reserch (e.g., undergraduate teaching experience, presentations, conference papers).
Graduate Assistant
- Candidates must possess a good honours degree (First Class or Second Class Upper Division) in the relevant discipline from a recognized university.
- Evidence of admission or enrollment into a postgraduate (Master’s) programme is an advantage.
- NYSC discharge/exemption or valid proof where applicable.
B. NON-TEACHING STAFF QUALIFICATIONS
I. ADMINISTRATION & REGISTRY SERVICES
ADMIN. OFFICER I (CONTISS 09)
- A candidate for Admin. Officer I should possess a Master’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, Law, or a related field, or a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum grade of Second Class Lower Division in a relevant field.
- If holding a Master’s degree, a minimum of Three (3) years of post-qualification administrative experience is required; if holding a Bachelor’s degree, a minimum of Five (5) years of post-qualification administrative experience is necessary.
- This role demands strong administrative, leadership, and communication skills, with essential computer literacy.
- Membership of recognized professional administrative bodies (e.g., NIM) would be an added advantage.
- ADMIN. OFFICER II (CONTISS 08)
A candidate for Admin. Officer II should possess a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum grade of Second Class Lower Division in Public Administration, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, or a related social science/humanities field. This is an entry-level professional administrative position, requiring the completion of mandatory national service (NYSC) and essential computer literacy (MS Office Suite). A postgraduate diploma in relevant fields would be an added advantage. - HIGHER EXECUTIVE OFFICER (GENERAL DUTY) (CONTISS 07)
A candidate for Higher Executive Officer (General Duty) should possess a Higher National Diploma (HND) with a minimum of Upper Credit, or a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum grade of Second Class Lower Division in Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related social science/humanities field. This role requires a minimum of Two (2) years of post-qualification administrative experience and essential computer literacy (MS Office Suite). Relevant professional certification would be an added advantage. - CONFIDENTIAL SECRETARY I (CONTISS 08)
A candidate for Confidential Secretary I should possess a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Secretarial Administration or Office Technology and Management with a minimum of Upper Credit. This position requires a minimum of Three (3) years of post-qualification experience in a secretarial role, preferably in a confidential setting. Essential skills include proficiency in shorthand (e.g., 120 wpm), typing (e.g., 60 wpm), and strong IT skills (MS Office Suite), with computer literacy being paramount. A Certificate in Desktop Publishing or advanced computer applications would be an added advantage. - PROCUREMENT OFFICER II (CONTISS 08)
A candidate for Procurement Officer II should possess a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum grade of Second Class Lower Division in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field. This entry-level professional position requires completion of mandatory national service (NYSC) and essential computer literacy (including procurement software and MS Excel). Professional certifications (e.g., CIPS, CIPSMN) would be an added advantage. - LEGAL OFFICER II (CONTISS 08)
A candidate for Legal Officer II should possess a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) with a minimum grade of Second Class Lower Division and Barrister-at-Law (B.L) from the Nigerian Law School (or equivalent recognized legal qualification). This entry-level professional legal position requires completion of mandatory national service (NYSC), being called to the Bar, and essential computer literacy for legal research tools. A Master of Laws (LL.M) or specialized legal training would be an added advantage. - AGRICULTURAL OFFICER II (CONTISS 08)
A candidate for Agricultural Officer II should possess a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum grade of Second Class Lower Division in Agronomy, Crop Science, Animal Science, Agricultural Economics, Soil Science, or a related agricultural discipline. This entry-level professional position requires completion of mandatory national service (NYSC) and essential computer literacy. A postgraduate diploma or specialized training in an agricultural sub-discipline would be an added advantage. - SPORTS OFFICER II (CONTISS 08)

A candidate for Store Keeper should possess a Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE/WASC/GCE O’level) with at least five (5) credits, including English Language and Mathematics, plus a recognized Certificate in Store Keeping, Warehousing, or Logistics. This role requires a minimum of two (2) years of experience in store management and basic computer literacy (especially with inventory software). An Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in a related field would be an added advantage.
- PORTER (CONTISS 03)
A candidate for Porter should possess a Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE/WASC/GCE O’level) or equivalent basic education. This entry-level position requires physical fitness and good communication skills. While not mandatory, some experience in a service role is preferred. Basic security awareness training would be an added advantage.
- MOTOR DRIVER MECHANIC (CONTISS 04)
A candidate for Motor Driver Mechanic should possess a Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE/WASC/GCE O’level) with passes in relevant subjects. This role requires a minimum of five (5) years of professional driving and vehicle maintenance experience, a valid national driver’s license (relevant class), and a Trade Test Certificate Grade I or II in Motor Mechanics. Advanced driving certification would be an added advantage.
II: MEDICAL & HEALTH SERVICES
- MEDICAL OFFICER I (CONTISS 09)
A candidate for Medical Officer I must possess a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS/MBBCh) or Doctor of Medicine (MD) from a recognized institution. Essential requirements include full registration with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) or equivalent, a current practicing license, and completion of mandatory national service (NYSC), complemented by a minimum of three (3) years of post-registration clinical experience. Computer literacy is essential. Postgraduate diplomas or certifications in specialized medical fields would be an added advantage.
- PHARMACIST I (CONTISS 09)
A candidate for Pharmacist I must possess a Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) from a recognized institution. Essential qualifications include full registration with the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN) or equivalent, a current practicing license, and completion of mandatory national service (NYSC), along with a minimum of three (3) years of post-registration experience. Computer literacy is essential. A postgraduate diploma in clinical pharmacy or related fields would be an added advantage.
- SENIOR NURSING (CONTISS 09)
A candidate for Senior Nursing should possess a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Nursing Science with a minimum grade of Second Class Lower Division, or hold Registered Nurse (RN) and Registered Midwife (RM) qualifications augmented by a post-basic specialization (e.g., Intensive Care, Anesthesia, Paediatric Nursing). This role requires a minimum of five (5) years of post-registration clinical experience, including proven supervisory responsibilities, and a current practicing license with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) or equivalent. Computer literacy is essential. A Master’s degree in Nursing or Public Health would be an added advantage.
- MEDICAL LAB SCIENTIST (CONTISS 08)
A candidate for Medical Lab Scientist must possess a Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (B.MLS) or equivalent from a recognized institution, with a minimum grade of Second Class Lower Division. Essential requirements include full registration with the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) or equivalent, a current practicing license, and completion of mandatory national service (NYSC), along with a minimum of one (1) year of post-registration experience. Computer literacy is essential. Specialist training in a sub-discipline of medical laboratory science would be an added advantage.
- NURSING OFFICER II (CONTISS 07)
A candidate for Nursing Officer II should possess a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Nursing Science with a minimum grade of Second Class Lower Division, or hold Registered Nurse (RN) and Registered Midwife (RM) qualifications. This entry-level professional nursing position requires completion of mandatory national service (NYSC), a current practicing license with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) or equivalent, and essential computer literacy. Basic life support certification would be an added advantage.
- PHARMACIST TECHNICIAN (CONTISS 06)
A candidate for Pharmacist Technician should possess an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Pharmacy Technology with a minimum of Upper Credit, or a relevant professional certificate from an accredited institution. This role requires a minimum of two (2) years of practical experience and relevant professional certification/registration. Computer literacy is essential. Dispensing experience would be an added advantage.
- MEDICAL LAB TECHNICIAN (CONTISS 06)
A candidate for Medical Lab Technician should possess an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Medical Laboratory Technology with a minimum of Upper Credit, or a relevant professional certificate from an accredited institution. This role requires a minimum of two (2) years of practical experience and relevant professional certification/registration. Computer literacy is essential. Experience with specific laboratory equipment or testing protocols would be an added advantage.
- HEALTH RECORD OFFICER (CONTISS 07)
A candidate for Health Record Officer should possess a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Health Information Management or Health Records and Biostatistics with a minimum grade of Second Class Lower Division, or a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Health Information Management with a minimum of Upper Credit. This role requires a minimum of two (2) years of post-qualification experience, relevant professional registration (e.g., HRORBN), and completion of mandatory national service (NYSC). Computer literacy, particularly with health information systems, is essential. Certification in medical coding or data analysis would be an added advantage.
- HEALTH ASSISTANT (CONTISS 03)
A candidate for Health Assistant should possess a Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE/WASC/GCE O’level) with at least five (5) credits, including English Language and a science subject, complemented by a recognized Certificate in Health Assistant training. This entry-level position requires good communication skills. While not mandatory, some relevant experience in a healthcare setting is preferred. First aid certification would be an added advantage.
III: BURSARY & FINANCIAL SERVICES
- AUDITOR II (CONTISS 08)
A candidate for Auditor II should possess a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum grade of Second Class Lower Division in Accounting, Banking and Finance, Economics, or a related field. This entry-level professional auditing position requires completion of mandatory national service (NYSC) and essential computer literacy (accounting software). Being in progress or having completed a professional qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, ANAN, CPA) would be a strong added advantage.
- SENIOR EXECUTIVE OFFICER (ACCOUNTS) (CONTISS 08)
A candidate for Senior Executive Officer (Accounts) should possess a Higher National Diploma (HND) with a minimum of Upper Credit, or a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum grade of Second Class Lower Division in Accounting or a related field. This role requires a minimum of three (3) years of post-qualification experience in an accounting or finance department, with essential computer literacy (accounting software, MS Excel). A professional qualification (e.g., ATSWA, ACA foundation level) would be an added advantage. - HIGHER EXECUTIVE OFFICER (ACCOUNTS) (CONTISS 07)
A candidate for Higher Executive Officer (Accounts) should possess a Higher National Diploma (HND) with a minimum of Upper Credit, or a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum grade of Second Class Lower Division in Accounting or a related field. This role requires a minimum of Two (2) years of post-qualification experience in an accounting or finance department, with essential computer literacy (accounting software, MS Excel). Relevant professional certification would be an added advantage.

- LIBRARIAN II (CONTISS 08)
A candidate for Librarian II must possess a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science (MLS/MLIS). This entry-level professional librarian position requires completion of mandatory national service (NYSC) and essential computer literacy, particularly with library management systems. Specialization in digital librarianship or archival studies would be an added advantage. - LIBRARY OFFICER I (CONTISS 08)
A candidate for Library Officer I should possess a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum grade of Second Class Lower Division in Library and Information Science, or a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Library and Information Science with a minimum of Upper Credit. If holding a Bachelor’s degree, a minimum of Three (3) years of experience is required; if holding an HND, a minimum of Five (5) years of experience in library operations, cataloging, or reference services is necessary. A candidate for Library Officer II should possess a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum grade of Second Class Lower Division in Library and Information Science, or a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Library and Information Science with a minimum of Upper Credit. - PROGRAM ANALYST II (CONTISS 08)
A candidate for Program Analyst II should possess a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum grade of Second Class Lower Division in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field. This entry-level professional position requires completion of mandatory national service (NYSC) and essential computer literacy, including proficiency in relevant programming languages (e.g., Python, Java) and databases (e.g., SQL). Industry certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer) would be an added advantage. - DATA PROCESSING OFFICER (CONTISS 07)
A candidate for Data Processing Officer should possess a Higher National Diploma (HND) with a minimum of Upper Credit, or an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) with a minimum of Upper Credit, in Computer Science, Data Processing, or a related field. This role requires a minimum of Two (2) years of post-qualification experience in data entry and management, with essential computer literacy, proficiency in data entry and data management software, and strong typing skills. Experience with specific database systems or statistical software would be an added advantage.
VI. WORKS & SERVICES DEPARTMENT (ENGINEERING & TECHNICAL)
36 — ENGINEER II (CONTISS 08)
A candidate for Engineer II should possess a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.), Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.), or equivalent in the relevant engineering discipline (e.g., Electrical, Mechanical, Civil) with a minimum grade of Second Class Lower Division. This entry-level professional engineering position requires completion of mandatory national service (NYSC) and essential computer literacy (including CAD software). Registration with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) or equivalent (or being in progress) is a key requirement. A postgraduate diploma in a specialized engineering area would be an added advantage.
37 — Technical Officer (ELECT/MECH/CIVIL/BUILDER/ARCHITECT) (CONTISS 07)
A candidate for Technical Officer in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Building, or Architectural fields should possess a Higher National Diploma (HND) with a minimum of Upper Credit, or an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) with a minimum of Upper Credit, in the relevant engineering or technical field. If holding an HND, a minimum of Three (3) years of post-qualification practical experience is required; if holding an OND, a minimum of Five (5) years of post-qualification practical experience is necessary. This role also requires a Trade Test Certificate Grade I or II in the specialized area and essential computer literacy with relevant technical software. Professional certification in the specific technical field would be an added advantage.
38 — ASSISTANT TECHNICAL OFFICER (MECH/CIVIL/BUILDER/ARCHITECT) (CONTISS 06)
A candidate for Assistant Technical Officer in Mechanical, Civil, Building, or Architectural fields should possess an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) with a minimum of Upper Credit in the relevant engineering or technical field, or a relevant Trade Test Certificate Grade I or II. This role requires a minimum of Two (2) years of post-qualification practical experience and basic computer literacy. Further technical training certificates would be an added advantage.
VII. PUBLIC RELATIONS & PROTOCOL
39 — MEDIA COMMUNICATION OFFICER (CONTISS 09)
A candidate for Media Communication Officer should possess a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum grade of Second Class Lower Division in Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field. This role requires a minimum of Three (3) years of post-qualification experience in media relations, content creation, social media management, or corporate communications. Essential skills include strong writing, editing, verbal communication, and computer literacy (including desktop publishing and multimedia software). A Master’s degree in a relevant field or professional certifications (e.g., NIMPR) would be an added advantage.
40 — MEDIA COMMUNICATION OFFICER II (CONTISS 08)
A candidate for Media Communication Officer II should possess a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum grade of Second Class Lower Division in Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field. This entry-level professional position requires completion of mandatory national service.
