The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) was established in 1986 following a compelling necessity for the establishment of a permanent organizational mechanism to tackle the problem of unemployment in Nigeria
Following the directive to reduce Unemployment in Nigeria, The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has begin the disbursement of loans to Nigerian Unemployed youths.
The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) is disbursing the loan under the Governments Micro Enterprise Enhancement Scheme (MEES)
According to Alhaji Danjuma Shehu, the NDE state coordinator in Taraba state noted at the occasion in Jalingo that the disbursement was the federal government’s effort towards improving the lives of unemployed Nigerians. He also said the idea was to empower unemployed youth to become self- reliance and impact the lives of others for a better society.

The coordinator also disclosed that all beneficiaries are expected to have an existing business and provide project addresses that can be located with ease by the officers on supervision.
We will disburse the funds to the beneficiaries using the information provided to their respective account number and banks.

According to The director-general of NDE, Mallam Abubakar Fikpo,
He said Micro Enterprise and Enhancement Scheme is an innovation introduced by the NDE to fight poverty and encourage micro enterprises which will boost the economic activities in our communities and to train graduates of tertiary institutions on entrepreneurship and business management skills.
